Deadlines and planning
For most individuals the due date is generally 31 July after the end of the financial year; for taxpayers whose accounts are required to be audited, it is generally 31 October. Due dates can be extended by notification, and a belated or revised return can be filed within the permitted time, with consequences. Advance tax is payable in instalments during the year if the liability crosses the threshold. We also help you plan your tax during the year, and not only at filing time. For the change of law from 1 April 2026, see our article on the Income-tax Act, 2025.
Frequently asked questions
Which ITR form applies to me?
It depends on the sources of your income and on whether you have business or professional income, capital gains or foreign assets. We select the correct form for you.
Do I need to file a return if my income is below the taxable limit?
In some cases you must file even if there is no tax payable, for example if you hold foreign assets, have high-value transactions or deposits, or where TDS refunds are claimed. We advise on your situation.
What if I received an income tax notice or an intimation?
Do not ignore it. Share it with us, and we will prepare the reply. See notice replies.
